THERESE (PETIT) CHARTRAND

December 30, 1932 - April 6, 2026

Thérèse Chartrand passed away peacefully the age of 93. She was the last surviving child of Lucie Dumaine and Edmond Petit. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Alfred of 67 years, her infant daughter Margaret, infant great-grand son Lukas, her siblings Rita, Thérèse, Marie-Ange, Albert, Agnes, Ernest, Agnes and René.

She will be forever missed by her children: Larry (Lorraine), Margaret (Murray), and Paul (Janet). Mom was a proud and loving “Memere” to Denny, Suzanne, Paul, Allyson, Griffin, Lindsay, Alyssa and Sarah, and 10 great-grandchildren. Terry - affectionately known by all - is survived by many other extended family and friends.

Thérèse was born in Winnipeg and raised on the family farm in Île-des-Chênes. After completing grade 12, she attended Normal School and began her teaching career at 17 in St. Laurent. It was there that she met tall, dark and handsome Fred. Mom eventually received her education degree in the early 1970’s and was always passionate about learning. They married in 1954 and built a long life together.

Mom found joy in many pleasures like reading, traveling and faithfully attending church, and above all spending time with her family and friends. Fiercely independent right up to her passing, mom lived her life to the fullest and always up for a good time.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Actionmarguerite St. Vital for their compassionate care over the past 3 1/2 years.

Funeral arrangements and reception will be held May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church 135, John Forsyth Rd.

Interment will be at later date.
